Last Days of Living in Bandon

Today is October 27 2008 and a Monday. How time does fly when having so much fun. We are now down to the last two days of living in Bandon if all goes well we will be vacating Bandon on Wednesday morning. It is getting scary as we don't know if we will be able to get everything loaded we may have to make some other arrangements to transport everything on this move. I am sure we could have done things a different way and it would have been easier . I guess we are just "do it meselfers" even if it cost more and a lot more work. Shirl has been great and is always searching for boxes. Then he fills them up and goes in search for more boxes.

I still need to go out and take more pictures of the final days in Bandon.

It is like a really good dream coming to an end and finding myself in a scary place. I have loved Bandon from the beginning. We have made wonderful friends and feel so much a part of the community here.

Life will be a lot different in Colorado. I enjoyed our time in Colorado Springs when we lived there before, but it was very lonely with so many people crammed into one area. The military presence and heavy concentrated population makes for a very busy lifestyle. Like living in a beehive. No more quiet mornings with just the sound of the ocean and the fog horn. Foggy misty or bright sun it was always a beautiful morning and a peaceful feeling to restore calm in my life.

I'm not confused just overwhelmed

Below is a couple of pictures of my favorite places in Bandon and then I included a couple pictures from my China visit. The spitting dragons is from Aberdeen area of Hong Kong and a pictures of the Great Wall at Badaling China.

Moving Day is fast approaching

Here we are near the end of October and we had hoped we would be settled into Colorado Springs by now. Like always, the best laid plans often take a detour. We still have one more event to take care of and then we will be pretty much prepared to travel east. After Saturday and the "Celebration of Life" for my dear friend Dorothy Edmison we will be just facing the loading up and moving out. I have taken some pictures but have not downloaded them at this time. We are literally walking around and climbing over boxes.

The following pictures are some we made while in Colorado. Bayli blessing before we returned to Oregon, rooms in our house. The last big crabbing event in Bandon.

Good-bye to the RV

Moving on

Well now that everyone knows we will no longer be the "by the sea" much longer I can bring you up to date. After the first part of our move for Heidi's birthday surprise we returned to Oregon. Now I feel like I am divided in half. We are preparing for the final move in the next couple of weeks. We just need to tie up a few loose ends. Yesterday, Shirl was released as Branch President and the new presidency was sustained. It was an oxymoron moment for sure. It is with great sadness that we will be leaving this little place of Paradise and the wonderful people that has shared our lives for the last eight years. They have truly been our family and we love them and I know we will miss them. We look forward to finishing the move to Colorado and hope to be able to feel at home there. We will be closer to our family and that is important. I just wish it was all finished .

The Sun is Sneaking out of clouds

Rainy Day in Bandon

Seems like summer is for sure coming to an end. We have had a beautiful soft and constant rain for the last couple of days. Love it! It is so nice to breath in the fresh smell of rain and watch the clouds come in over the ocean. Happy! Happy! day.

View of Cannon Beach, Oregon

On the way home, we stopped at a couple of the places we had visited when we made the trip south the Eric and Erika and Alex.

At the Fort, on the Trolley, Bridge across the river, view from the trolley, Bridge

This is where the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean meet .

Picture of the "Gooney" House.

Still Trying to get some more pictures.

The room that Sacajawea(sp?)her husband and baby lived in the fort
We went to the Lewis & Clark Park and enjoyed learning about their travels and exploration. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed walking to the area where their fort was and to learn about what they accomplished.

I bought some glass trade beads that they used to trade with the Native Americans that lived in the area. I have made a necklace out of the bead.

More of the Astoria Getaway!

Our motel, we were almost under the bridge. It was pretty nice and they did have a pool and hot tub that we used . The sign at the Flavel Mansion gift shop and a picture of me standing by the fish pond on the lawn of the Flavel house. Beautiful garden with sweet smelling flowers, roses, lavender, jasmine and more. Oh, and the little jail house across the street from the Flavel Mansion.

Bridge across the Columbia River to Washington.

Well, as you can see we did have a fun time. I am still looking for the pictures of Cannon Beach and some of the pictures are of a old sailing boat that wrecked on the beach , the old theatre, the Flavel Mansion etc.

Here are just some of the pictures that we made of the Columbia River , The Texas Stewarts leaving at the airport in Portland, The beautiful Victorian House that is now a restored museum for one of the prominant family's of early Astoria.
